Our Vision

Stswecem'c Xgat'tem is an economically and politically self sustaining Secwepemc community living our Secwepemc culture, language and traditions in a healthy and safe environment.

Our Mission

Stswecem'c Xgat'tem community, through quality leadership and services, will create employment and education opportunities, liaise between surrounding communities and governments, and promote healthy living with Secwepemc beliefs and values that will enhance and strengthen our people.

Our Values

Stswecem'c Xgat'tem community will promote honesty, respect, accountability, fairness and creativity amongst all members in promoting a healthy and safe community.

Canoe Creek Store

The Canoe Creek CO-OP store has been opened since 1981, and has been selling gas since 1985. We sell gas, tobacco products, groceries, and goodies. We are pleased to serve our community and surrounding areas. We are open from 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday; 8am-4pm Saturday; and closed on Sundays.

Canoe Creek Housing

The first houses in Canoe and Dog Creek were built in the late 50s and early 60s which were known as Department of Indian Affairs (DIA) houses. In 1982 the first Canadian Mortgage Housing Company (CMHC) houses were built in the two communities.

Natural Resources

Our ancestors of Stswecem'c Xgat'tem left us with the responsibility to protect and manage Secwepemculucw (we are the land and the land is us). We will actively protect, manage, and develop the land resources in our traditional territory for the benefit of our community and future generations.
