Canoe Creek Band Education

The Stswecem'c Xgat'tem First Nation Education Department, through quality leadership and services will create education and training opportunities by:

  • Assisting students to access post secondary education for the purpose of obtaining a degree and thereby pursuing a career and contribute to the achievement of the Stswecem'c Xgat'tem First Nation self reliance and sustainability.

  • Ensuring a commitment to education and training in such a way as to maintain our Secwepemc cultural and traditional values, and by supporting those pursuing education and training to maintain a balance of intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical well being.

  • Providing the necessary financial, career and advisory services to our members.

The Education Department will carry out its mandate by way of a Post-Secondary Education Policy that meets the needs of the community in areas of their choice in professional andtechnical development. The Canoe Creek Band will be a self sufficient community in the future, and we see education as a method to ensure it. Education guarantees a better foundation for us and our community for generations to come.
